Meet Dr. Kandr

Now we are going into the forest, we will see tree houses, and a man, on his mission, to find a t-shirt...

Hello Doc Kandr!
Doc Kandr's clinic (invitation only)
Why are you a Mama Allpa Doctor?
I enjoy a particular kind of RP: vivid, detailed, intense, physical, even intimate. D/s and sex are good sources for this kind of RP, and I've enjoyed those. Combat is another good source, but I don't enjoy RPing combat. Medical treatment and deviant medical play are also good sources for this kind of RP.

We do not see much of the t-shirt here...
What is your favorite thing to do in SL aside from Mama Allpa?
My partner, our friends, and I have built a grove of giant trees, with treehouses and bridges. We've also landscaped under the trees. I enjoy continuing to improve or change our home, or just hanging out with our friends. I also shop for clever T-shirts.

What is a goal that you wish to achieve still in SL?
My goals change at least every few months. Things change: my SL, my 1L, who I am in 1L, who I want to be in SL, who I meet in SL, and so on. So I'll say, Finding the ultimate clever T-shirt.

What would you like to tell our readers as message?
I'm a father in 1L, and both our pregnancies were challenging. I know how scary-wonderful the experience can be, and I'm honored when someone wants to explore it with me.

Thank you Doc! :)

Dr. Kitten

Dr. Kitten is also an "early bird" in our team. Some of you might know her free baby collection, which is truly also a great thing to experience motherhood, after the delivery.

Hello Kitten!
Why are you a Mama Allpa Doctor?

I discovered Mama-Allpa by way of Dark Den, when it operated out of la Clinica del Glint. I met Tara Bergan in Glint back when I was a newbie. She became a sort of mentor to me and helped me get a good start in SL.

About this time I also discovered Mama-Allpa. The idea of realistically roleplaying pregnancy and birth intrigued me. Another mentor from my newbie days played as my partner. We watched my calendar together to find my fertile days . When it appeared that I was late, he went with me to see if an OB/GYN was available to RP a pregnancy test with us, There was, and it turned out to be Tara!

I was completely surprised when my ultrasound showed that I was having twins, as I had not set my HUD for an increased probability for multiples, but I played it out just as I would a real surprise twin pregnancy. I found the whole experience, all the way through the births and playing with my virtual daughters to be tremendous fun! I wanted to keep playing happy baby games, so I assisted Tara with a few prenatal examinations and deliveries as her nurse, to learn the role. I also attended Village Bike's role playing classes and started the Dark Den Roleplaying Certification program and the ROPE program to improve my RP skills as a Doctor.

Tell us more about your kids :)
Sami is the first of my twins. She has dark hair and tanned skin like Sam and I. She is more extroverted and assertive than her sister. She is very particular about which nipple she wants when nursing (my left), and she is beginning to teethe. Ouch!
Ginger is quiter and more content. She has fairer hair and skin than Sami, and moves her body with surprising control and grace for an infant. She will probably dance before she learns to walk.
Sami and Ginger are perpetual infants in SL as I have no plans for roleplaying them growing up. Right now, I don't know any guys interested in roleplaying having a family with me, and my time in SL is limited by RL constraints anyway, so I don't see more children in the immediate future.

What is your favorite thing to do in SL aside from Mama Allpa?
I've found SL to be a tremendous outlet to try new creative things. The various roleplaying opportunities have encouraged me to stretch my mind as I try to come up with fun colaborative stories with others I'm playing with, sometimes spinning off into completely different creative areas. I've also been learning to do prim building and clothes designing.

What was the funniest thing that ever happened to you in SL?
Once I tried to use an old LM to visit a shop I hadn't been to for a couple years. But the shop was gone and the land was owned by someone else now who had built his home on the landing coordinates of my old LM. He was home, and he was entertaining a friend, and he was not amused at me popping in on them at that particular, awkward time.
I called him later to apologize and tell him that I'd thrown away the old LM. He told me that it didn't matter because he'd banned me anyway.
But I still thought it was funny.   :)

What is a goal that you wish to achieve still in SL?
Completing my DD RP certification.

What would you like to tell our readers as message?
SL can be very realistic, but it's still just a game. Have fun. If something about SL is interfering with your enjoyment here, or your real life, do something else.

Thank you Kitten!

After the party
Hello Doc!
Why are you a Mama Allpa Doctor?
I started out just trying to help the slaves and free women on my sim who were expecting babies (and we have a lot with all those beasts!) and wanted to be the best I could, so I studied to become a Mama Allpa doctor

I run two clinics, one you can find here:
http://slurl.com/secondlife/Acapulco%20Bay/131/191/21

So, when you are not working as Doc, what do you like to do most?
I now co -run the Lost Rose Isle sim with my husband and my good friend Kaya, we have events and parties there but my big passion is swimming and diving, so many lovely places to do that on SL too!

Are you having your own kids in SL? If so, tell us a bit about them?
I am 4 months pregnant with twins. I am nervous but Rabbit just can't wait! I already have a daughter

What was the funniest thing that ever happened to you in SL?
I have so many funny moments in SL most of them seem in to involve Rabbit somewhere. Rabbit is my assistant healer with funniest bedside manner you will meet in SL i guarantee!

Do you have "famous last words" for this interview for our dear readers?
I absolutely love being a Mama Allpa Doctor. I have met some of the loveliest people and feel that my Sl wouldn't be the same if I was to stop. It's hard work but sharing your birth experiences is just so special i wouldn't swap it for anything

Dr. Misti

Doc Misti is also one of our longest term staff members, she is as well also a lot working in the background, for example when screening new Docs.

Hello Doc :)

why are you a Mama Allpa Doctor?
I am a Mama Allpa doctor because I love helping create families here.  I love the rp of a parent or parents that are so eager to have their little one join them.  My clinic is at (S-URL): http://slurl.com/secondlife/Aggramar/216/204/2

What is your favorite thing to do in SL aside from Mama Allpa?
Misti with partner
My favorite thing to do in SL when I am not seing a patient is to spend time with my SL partner and family. We have horses and love to shop!

Are you having own kids in SL? If so, tell us a bit about them?
I have 4 kids and one on the way.  Peyton and Stacey are from my first marriage in sl, however my current partner jumped at the chance to adopt them.  She and I have since had an adorable set of twins, Jayden and Olivia. *smiles* Our newest addition, a girl, is due on April 8th!

What would you like to tell our readers as message?
We are here to help you.  No matter what the need is someone is almost always here for advice and support.  We each have our own roleplay here and with tolerance for everyone's choices SL would be a MUCH better place.

Midwife Allie

Allie is one of the staff members that is with Mama Allpa from almost the start. She has brought joy and support to many families and today let us ask her some questions...

Hello Allie,

ready for the dance :)

why are you a Mama Allpa Doctor?
I am an EMT in RL and love the entire pregnancy cycle (ok maybe not my periods).  So it was a natural fit in SL to become a midwife since I generally prefer the home based maternity care of a midwife, I chose that role over a doctor/clinical role.  I enjoy giving my patients a detailed and fairly authentic setting and experience.  I don't take a lot of patients to minimize burnout, but I do really enjoy the people I have assisted with their pregnancies.

What is your favorite thing to do in SL aside from Mama Allpa?
Explore new SIMS and shop...Oh? Does it have to be only one favorite thing?  I am continually amazed by the creativity and wonderful SIMS that I find in SL.  There are not enough hours in the day to explore them all.  I also appreciate meeting people who can construct thoughtful sentences and I learn a bit from everyone I meet.

Are you having own kids in SL? If so, tell us a bit about them?
I have had one beautiful baby so far, and hope to have more.

What was the funniest thing that ever happened to you in SL?
Finding someone I knew RL in a very awkward moment.

What is a goal that you wish to achieve still in SL?
Laughs...well like most girls I suppose to find Mr. Right and have a family.  But it's so much fun to find the Mr. Wrongs along the way. ;)

What would you like to tell our readers as message?
Enjoy your time in SL.  Take the opportunity to explore and meet people. Remember behind every Avatar is a RL person.  Some people you meet you will make longterm friends, some you will not want to see the next day, but everyone, in whatever way does bring something to SL.  As far a your pregnancy goes, please take the time to read the Mama Allpa website, many questions we get could be answered by looking there.  As doctors and midwives we love all our patients, but remember we have SL lives (and RL lives too) so we can't always be there.

Ava!

Today, we are visiting Ava, who is actively supporting the Mama Allpa staff and patients, in OOC (Out of Character) with her knowledge. Ava is with Mama Allpa from day 1.

Hello Ava,
why are you supporting MA?
Well, I am not a Mama Allpa doctor.  A lot of the time I am mistaken for one though!  I find myself too busy with other projects and commitments to devote enough time to patients.  As to why I'm Mama Allpa staff, it's because I believe in the product, and out of devotion to my wonderful friend, YT Recreant.
(said friend blushes, scribbles it down and coughs)
Ava in the snow

What is your favorite thing to do in SL aside from Mama Allpa?
I love roleplaying and building.  You can usually find me at the Dark Den, if I'm not holed away working on a project.

Thank you Ava!

Dr. CJ at Echoes Beach

Today, we are going to Echoes Beach, to meet with Dr. Cj, who spends a lot of her time with her family and her horses...

Hello Doctor CJ,
why are you a Mama Allpa Doctor?

I became a Mama Allpa Doctor because I think it is a good product and I wanted to be a Doctor on SL.  I have a medical background in RL and that is what I know the most about and I wanted to let the mother's to be feel comfortable and at home and help them have fun with their pregnancy.

Are you having kids in SL?
So far no we haven't had our own kids, but yes I want to at some point.

My clinic is located at: (S-URL): http://slurl.com/secondlife/Echoes%20Beach/100/194/2901

What is your favorite thing to do in SL aside from Mama Allpa?
Grins, if I put that would all be blushing, let me just say I love being with my husband, AreWe Onyett and I love my horses.
We raise the amaretto breedable horses and I love them.

What was the funniest thing that ever happened to you in SL?
When were still new me and my friend Thea were at her house, she hd called me because she had a fire in the floor and couldn't figure out how to get it out.  I thought I could remember what AreWe had told me so here I went to get the fire out of her floor.  I found it and hit return to owner and her house disappeared and we both fell to the ground.
Burning down the house :)
I had to find AreWe and tell him what I had done and he went up to fix it and all of her furniture was hanging up in the air where i had deleted not only the house but the platform it was on.

Also the day of mine and AreWe's wedding everything was so perfect, we had worked so hard to make everything so beautiful and it all went so great.  After the ceremony as we were taking pictures the guys picked me up and laid me on my side for a picture and there I was barefooted and wearing a 6000 dollar wedding dress.  Was very embarassed, but we still laugh because i go barefooted so much of the time, was just so sure I had everything right that day and forgot to put on the shoes I had bought to wear with that dress.  :)

What is a goal that you wish to achieve still in SL?
I want to be the best doctor Mama Allpa has and I want to breed and sell horses that people want to buy, that are beautiful.  I also want to breed a charmed horse.  I want to be a good wife to AreWe and stand by him through it all, no matter what happens to either of us, the other one is always there to help and understand.

What would you like to tell our readers as message?
I don't believe there is really a way to keep SL out of your RL, the feelings and emotions come from you, so be honest and true to yourself and have fun.  We have the chance here to go back and fix the things we have always said "if I could do that over I would do so and so", well SL is your chance to do just that.

I would also advise everybody to remember that life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but, by the moments that take our breath away.  Try to remember to live, love, laugh and kiss often....forgive quickly and kiss slowly!!!!
Also if you are pregnant or trying remember to have fun with your pregnancy, find a doctor you feel comfortable laughing and talking with and have a blast!!

Thank you CJ! :)

Dr .Tash

Today, we are going to visit Dr. Tash, a versatile Doc who caters to many SL forms of life...

Hi Tash,
what do you like about your time as Mama Allpa Doctor?
Like all good doctors, I have a fascination with what I practice. Pregnancy is a two-fold contrast. There is the very clinical, base observation and tweaking of a body to help it result in bringing a healthy life into the world. And then there is the mystical, magical process of growing a new life from virtually nothing. While the first is wise and necessary, the second is where my deepest appreciations of pregnancy reside. I come into M.A. practice with a deep desire to roleplay with people who draw the M.A. experience into the existing richness of their second lives, and in doing so, I become a contributor to some of the fantastic and amazing tapestries woven here. I enjoy drawing herbalism and nature magic into my roleplay as a doctor, as an addition to or sometimes a substitution for traditional Western medical techniques.

And when you are not working as OB, how do you spend your time in SL?
I enjoy roleplay: fantasy, historical, steampunk, modern/contemporary urban, futuristic ... just about anything goes, really, as long as the roleplay is expressive, responsive, detail-rich and flowing. During quiet times, I build or modify on whims, usually for my own amusement. I love seeking out amazing builds, and can idle for hours admiring the handiwork of some of SL's best and most talented builders and designers. I write, and can sometimes be found at poetry and fiction readings, or at writing workshops honing my skills.

So, you are getting around some. Tell us some funny event that occurred to you?
I am, at the heart of things, sometimes a blundering clumsy dork who has a way of wandering into situations and conversations where I frequently end up looking rather silly. Oddly, I don't mind this very much. It makes for some very funny text! But the funniest things seem to revolve not around other people but my own occasional viewer issues. I have shown up many places appearing nude or wearing only boots. Oh *I* could see my clothing, but it wasn't showing up to others. I was even ejected from a poetry reading once because I ported in, apparently nude to others, and went idle for a few minutes. I had landed on the stage, and my *ahem* business was out there for everyone to see (though, again, I saw clothing on myself). I came back from idle to a ban notice and some really angry IMs from the event coordinator. All is forgiven now, though, and she and I are friends. But yeah. If you see me naked, give me a heads up. *smiles*

What are things you want to achieve in SL?

My goals for SL are simple, and stated plainly in my profile:
"Outside roleplay, lasting bonds are important to me. I give huge efforts - time, energy, emotion & care - to building mutually fulfilling & happy emotions. If you understand intimacy, focus & giving as good as you get, & you want those things too, you're already ahead of the game. Oh...and if your mind went immediately to sex while reading this paragraph, you might want to reread & reassess how much you really know about these words."
My goal is great roleplay and a few really good friendships through rapport and connection. The friendships: I have them and they grow better every day. The roleplay: M.A. is one of the vehicles I use to hone and enjoy the art and craft of wordsmithing.

And what would you like to give our readers as message on the way?
The M.A. hud is an amazing piece of SL craftsmanship, and something I personally use and strongly admire the design of. There is so much more potential to it's use than a simple point and click pregnancy. The roleplay possibilities are astounding and limited only by the imagination. I encourage everyone who wears it to play with it! Dig into the menues. Click buttons. Don't be timid with it. Find out all you can about how it best works for you. With that knowledge in place, you open yourself up to the vastness of what pregnancy in SL can bring.

Thank you Tash! :)

Dr. Tessa

Today, we are visiting Dr. Tessa :)

Hello Doc,

what was for you the motivation to become a Mama Allpa Doctor?
I decided to become a Mama Allpa Doctor a while after my first couple of pregnancies. At that time, I was new here and hadn't hear of MA, so I went to a few other clinics. I never received the free, wonderful care like I did when I found Mama Allpa.
Dr. Tessa private

After all the trouble I had with other clinics, I wanted to work with Mama Allpa, own my own clinic, and help to insure no one else would have those same problems.

My clinic S-URL is: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Caraibes%20Isle/83/175/21

So you enjoy motherhood in SL also yourself?
I am currently 7 months pregnant actually! Found out a while ago that I am having three little girls. I am so blessed to have these three and cannot wait til they are born. I have yet to decide on names for them, but am excited to have them here shortly!

And what is your message for our readers?
I would just like to tell them to enjoy every aspect of their pregnancy. It's such a beautiful thing and any and every Mama Allpa doctor will strive to make sure that theycan have the best experience possible. Although many are ready to speed through the pregnancy, so excited to have their little one(s), I hope that they also stop and truly enjoy the pregnancy as well.

Thank you Dr. Tessa!
